Jim Murphy began his building career in the late 1980’s in New York when he bought a fixer upper home. Acting as his own General Contractor, Jim renovated the home completely leaving only the 1st floor studs and exterior as original on the home. Jim then moved to Highlands Ranch, CO. in 1994 and started Environmental Building Products (EBP). Within 5 years, this company became the largest wholesale distributor of Plastic Lumber in the Rocky Mountain Region. Ecoboard, Ecodeck and PermaDeck brands were sold by EBP through local lumber yards as Maintenance Free Decking, Outdoor Furniture and plastic lumber for Commercial Projects. Satisfied customers included Walt Disney World, Vail Resorts, Colorado State Parks, US Postal Service and thousands of residential and commercial customers. Our decking was featured on 9 Parade of Homes from 1995-2002.
Jim has worked with many Engineers, Architects, Builders and Deck Contractors in Colorado on the proper installation procedure of Plastic Lumber and Composite Decking over the past 25 years.
Jim has served on the Board of Directors for the Home Builders Association of Metro Denver and was Chairman of the Membership and Energy and Environmental Committees. In August of 1995, Jim wrote the first check as the founding sponsor of the Built Green Program of Colorado. This was the largest program in the U.S. of its kind from 1995 -2010.
Jim has served as a Project Manager for large commercial projects in Colorado which include; Chatfield Marina, Webster Lake Marina, Mill Run Apartment Complex and EB Rains Memorial Park Marina.
